Visit of novelist and gender activist, Fadi Zaghmout

March 30, 2022 @ 2:00 pm - 5:30 pm

UA is hosting Jordanian author and Gender Activist, Fadi Zaghmout.  This visit is possible with the extremely generous support of the Middle East Studies Program directed by Dr. Waleed Hazbun. MLC is a co-sponsor along with the departments of English and Gender and Race. Next Wednesday afternoon, I will open up the Arabic 363 course to those in the department who are interested in hearing him speak about his work and latest novels (more specific details to follow but my course is between 2:30-5).

Fadi Zaghmout is a Jordanian gender activist, blogger, and author now living in the UAE. His first two novels were best-sellers in the Middle East, and his third novel, Laila, has just been published in English. His most celebrated novel, Bride of Amman (2012), is also available in English, Italian, and French. It was an instant success, initiating long overdue conversations about sexuality and “sexual rights” for women and the LGBTQ community in Jordan and in the Middle East in general. Fadi holds an MA in Creative Writing and Critical Thinking from Sussex University in the UK. He blogs at fadizaghmout.com and tweets as @fadizaghmout
