A minor in French is a valuable complement to any undergraduate major. As students develop their language proficiency, they expand their creativity, adaptability, and global perspectives. Students can diversify their post-graduation opportunities by strengthening communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Courses for the minor give students the opportunity to become familiar with various aspects of the French-speaking world, including literature, cultures, film, theater, and linguistics.
The minor in French requires 18 hours in French courses with a minimum of 6 hours of 300- and 400-level courses completed on the UA campus.
Study abroad is strongly encouraged for students studying French.
