Caleb H. Kelley, Spanish PhD candidate, presents research at digital linguistics conference in Spain

Caleb H. Kelley, a PhD candidate in Spanish linguistics, recently presented the pilot study for his dissertation research at the second Congreso Internacional de Lingüística Digital (CILiDi) on May 5, 2023, in Alicante, Spain. This summer’s study delves into the maintenance of syllable-final /s/ among LGBTQ+ speakers in aspirating dialects, exploring its use as an expression of sexual orientation in social meaning-making.

CILiDi 2 was co-organized by the University of Alicante, the University of Granada, and the Polytechnic University of Valencia by the Digital Language Learning (DL2) Research Group. The aim of this conference was to unite experts in digital linguistics, researchers, and advanced students with interests in areas such as language, translation, transcreation, and education.
