The Graduate Exam of Reading Proficiency in Spanish or Portuguese is offered to graduate students at the end of each semester, typically two weeks before finals week. It is not a “qualifying exam,” but a translation exam. If you are interested in taking a reading proficiency exam, please submit a Request for Graduate Exam of Reading Proficiency and email Dr. Laura Rubio at (for Spanish) or Dr. Jared Hendrickson at (for Portuguese).
The exam will be given on Wednesday, November 17th from 2 to 4:30 pm in 247 BB Comer Hall.
Note: Students in graduate programs from other departments are advised to check with their program advisors prior taking a course or either exam as described below.
You can satisfy the reading proficiency requirement in Spanish by either
- Taking SP 503 in the fall (not offered in spring) and passing the course, or
- Taking the exam directly in Spanish to fulfill the language requirement.
You can satisfy the reading proficiency requirement in Portuguese by taking the exam directly in Portuguese to fulfill the language requirement.
