Latin Placement Exam

Students who studied Latin in high school may take the Latin Placement Exam to ascertain if they can start in an intermediate or higher level of Latin at UA. The advantage of starting at a higher level is that students can then apply for “back credit” for the courses that they passed over (excluding LA 101). To obtain back credit for courses passed over, a student must score a “B” or higher in the course into which he or she has tested.

To make arrangements to take the Latin Placement Exam before or after coming to campus, send an email to Professor Kirk Summers at ksummers@ua.edu. Freshmen who have not yet started at UA must first obtain a Campus-Wide ID and a MyBama account.
