You can satisfy the reading proficiency requirement in Spanish by:
a) Taking SP 503 in the Fall (not offered in Spring) and passing the course,
b) Taking the exam directly in Spanish to fulfill the language requirement. It is not a “qualifying exam”, but a translation exam.
Note: Students in graduate programs from other departments are advised to check with their program advisors prior taking either course or exam as described above.
The Graduate EXAM of Reading Proficiency in Spanish is offered to graduate students at the end of each semester, typically two weeks before finals week.
