Caleb H. Kelley, Spanish linguistics PhD candidate, presents research at Ohio State University Congress on Hispanic and Lusophone Linguistics Symposium

Caleb H. Kelley, a PhD Candidate in Spanish linguistics, recently gave a successful presentation on his latest research project entitled “Syllable-final /s/ and the sociolinguistic construction of gay personae in Spanish speakers” on March 25 at the Ohio State University Congress on Hispanic and Lusophone Linguistics Symposium (OSUCHiLL). 

OSUCHiLL, organized entirely by graduate students in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese at The Ohio State University, is one of the leading graduate student conferences in the United States focusing on distinct aspects of Hispanic and Lusophone linguistics from a wide variety of scholars. 

Caleb presented initial findings from his dissertation research which explores social meaning-making through stylistic variation among LGBTQ+ and non-LGBTQ+ Spanish speakers.
