Dr. Jorge Pérez, Professor of Iberian Literary and Cultural Studies at the University of Texas, Austin will present on the critical role of costume design in cinema. In this talk, Pérez will examine the significant use of Chanel garments in three films from Spanish director Pedro Almodóvar: Tacones lejanos (1991), Todo sobre mi madre (1999), and Los abrazos rotos (2009). He will establish that the Chanel-Almodóvar connection is a mutually enriching collaboration in which both branded products infuse each other with meaning.
