Ellen Mayock, Ernest Williams II Professor of Spanish at Washington and Lee University, will present on her 2016 book Gender Shrapnel in the Academic Workplace, which examines colleges’ and universities’ uneven gender and intersectional dynamics across the spectrum of sexual discrimination, harassment, and retaliation and sexual assault and violence. In this talk, Mayock will address in particular concepts of betrayal and fraternity as they relate to the higher education landscape. Following the structure of Gender Shrapnel, the talk will treat both problems and solutions.
